Solid wood furniture that is timeless and beautiful does not have to come from your grandmother's attic. It is possible to have quality wood furniture that is less than 100 years old. A collaboration of Turkish architectural firm, Autobahn, and Portuguese design and manufacturing, De La Espada, have created a beautiful line of solid wood furniture that is worthy of the price tag. The design, Autobahn by De La Espada, can be seen here and infuses modern elements with a solid wood foundation that would make for a conversation piece in any home.
Happy Birthday compact disc(well a bit belated, Friday 17 August to be exact). According to BBC, 25 years have elapsed since Phillips and Sony conspired to inspire us with the Abba album, "The Visitors" on a thin piece of plastic. We thank you for making the cassette tape obsolete. In a time where digital music looks poised to make the jump from the CD to the virtual drives in iPods and other digital media storage devices, we salute you and wish you well. In ten years when you talk to your kids about listening to vinyls, you won't be talking about 45s or 33s; you will be referencing the outdated wonder that is a compact disc.

Next time you are bogged down at the office, tell your boss you just need to expense some Lego's. Good luck.
We leave you with a new twist on an old favorite. Everyone loves a fishbowl, and we especially love these designs by Roger Arquer. Everything from the extremely clever to slightly disturbing, Arquer has put a new spin on the ageless circular fish bowl. Enjoy the pictures.
We talked about our friends at the FabLabs here in South Africa last week. So we would be remiss not to mention The Fourth International Fab Lab Forum and Symposium on Digital Fabrication. Readymade has a vested interest in this particular gathering, as one of our colleagues from here in South Africa will be discussing his work with us and MIT in order to follow his dream of creating a better South Africa. Check out some videos of last year's conference.
